Which one is important to you?

Just ask our beloved Tampa Rays. Seven runs up and they lose after giving up eight to Boston in the last three innings.

I think that the coaching philosophy of former Buccaneers coach, Tony Dungy, is apropos for this election:

“If we are up by three then we are down by seven”

Complacency kills election campaigns.  A candidate that I was advising a few years back managed to get hold of some damning information on his opponenent and, against my judgement, he released the information too soon.  His stick-a-fork-in-that-one attitude cost him dearly.  His opponent, an incumbent, had time to reorganize and re engineer his campaign.  My candidate stopped canvassing and paid no attention to strategy sessions.  His endorsement by the local papers made things worse and he became glib and cavalier.  Of course, my guy lost because of his hubris.  Exit polls revealed that he was too aloof.  An opinion that only surfaced in the final month of the campaign.

Look at these two screen shots from David Gregory’s show “Race to the White House” today (Tuesday 10/15). Notice something strange? The Virgina poll is over two weeks old, and the North Carolina poll is nine days old. And what do you know, both show McCain with a small lead! Why rely on old data? Maybe because the newer ones conflict with the McCain “Comeback” storyline?

Here are the current trends in Virginia:

And North Carolina:

Virginia has been polled five times since October 1, for a composite average of Obama: 51% – McCain: 44% Obama is above 50% in all five.

North Carolina has been polled four times since October 7, for an average score Obama: 48.5% – McCain: 46.25%

That candidate is Barack Obama and here is what Sarah Palin’s record on animal rights looks like.

A reader from The Daily Dish hits this perfectly about Rich Lowry’s orgasm over at the NRO:

I thought Palin’s performance at the debate was downright embarrassing and on top of that I have to read this clown’s blog, stating more or less that Palin gave him an erection? Little starbursts my ass.  Here’s what I thought when Palin “dropped” that first wink at us: “Did she just wink at us like she was America’s cocktail waitress?” Rich Lowry is on the verge of slapping Sarah Palin on the ass and asking her for another of those fantastic whiskey sours.

If we let this fool get one heart beat away from the Presidency then we risk intellectual devolution and the downfall of our country.  Instead of teaching math & science we will be debating burning bushes and walking on water.

Just to put things into perspective: China has more honor students than the US has students.

Do you think that the Chinese, or India, spend a whole lot of time debating or teaching whether Abraham begat his only son?  No, me neither.

Instead of leading in medical and technical research, Palin would have us put our fate in the hands of Jesus.  Local school boards should stick to legally compliant math and science doctrines and reject creationism as nothing more than literature.

This sounds harsh, but the next Jonas Salk could be livng in a town where the likes of Palin preside on a school board that have decided that teaching science is the devil’s work, when, in fact, it is the other way round.

Time:

COURIC: Should creationism be allowed to be taught anywhere in public schools?

Gov. PALIN: Don’t have a problem at all with kids debating all sides of theories, all sides of ideas that they ever–kids do it today, whether it’s on paper in a curriculum or not. Curriculums also are best left to the local school districts, instead of big brother, federal government, telling a district what they can and can’t teach.

Watching this CNN video makes Palin’s false assertion of visiting the one vantage point that a person can see Russia less important than the reality that Palin seems to have largely abandoned these people. I guess it puts into perspective the bullshit that was the Cold War, and is Putin’s alleged global menace towards us, when Reagan, and now Palin, couldn’t give a toss about these people despite their front-line proximity to Russia.

I would have been quite impressed if palin had visited Little Diomede, but she hasn’t, and she won’t. Instead she will take credit for the endurance that the people of this island go through on a daily basis. No doubt they could sniff through her “Joe-six-Pack” nonsense. The rugged lifestyle that the people of Little Diomede live on a daily basis, makes Palin’s airplane-wolf-shooting, dog sledding, moose hunting, look like luxury.

Palin, rather than shore up her foreign relations experience, merely confirms that she is disinterested in the plight of poor Americans no matter how dangerous or precarious their living conditions are.
